About The Lake

Lake Amador Lake Amador is located about an hour from Sacramento and Stockton and 2 1/2 hours from the Bay Area. A very small lake with only 425 acres but offers everything any angler could want. It is closed to waterskiing and jet skis and has 24-hour fishing year round.

The lake has full facilities including campgrounds, marina, boat rentals, store, etc. It has about 14 miles of shoreline and the facilities are open from early February through Thanksgiving. Tackle Box Cafe & Sports Bar is open 7 days a week and serves breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, year round.

The lake was first planted in 1969 and was one of the first Northern California lakes to get Florida-strain largemouth.

The brush along the water's edge provides a thriving warm water fishery. A Northern California record limit of 80 pounds of Florida bass was set in 1981, and in 1986 the individual lake record was set for 17 pounds l l/4 ounces. More big bass per acre of water come from Amador than from any other lake in Northern California.
