Lake Camanche is known for its bass fishing but is gaining a reputation as a great trout fishery since regular trout plants began in 1989. An average of 80,000 pounds of trout are stocked in Lake Camanche annually between October and June with an occasional bass plant in the summer. Other species found in Lake Camanche include: catfish, crappie, bluegill and sunfish.
The Trout Pond on the South Shore is an ideal place to take children fishing. All anglers are required to have a daily fishing access pass in addition to a state fishing license to fish in either the main lake or the trout pond. One hundred percent of the fishing access funds are used to purchase fish for stocking the main lake and trout pond.
