About The Lake

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills due east of Modesto and 39 miles from Stockton. Lake Don Pedro may well be the answer for those recreation enthusiasts who are tired of dealing with the crowds often found at lakes closer to the large metropolitan areas.

Offering 160 miles of shoreline with nearly 13,000 surface acres of water, there is plenty of water on which to enjoy your favorite water sport. Boating, fishing (for bass, trout, salmon, crappie, bluegill, and catfish), swimming, waterskiing, jetskiing, sailing and houseboating are some activites enjoyed at the lake.

Facilities include three recreation areas: Fleming Meadows and Blue Oaks at the West Shore, and Moccasin Point at the East Shore of the lake. Between the three areas, there are a total of 550 campsites, some with full utility hook-ups for R.V.'s, the rest with access for water and hot showers.

There are two full service marinas on the water, one at Fleming Meadows on the West Shore, and one at Moccasin Point on the East Shore. All three recreation areas have launch ramps and picnic facilities.

For those who really like to get away from it all, boat-in camping is allowed over the majority of Don Pedro's 160 miles of shoreline. Although considered primitve camping, there are restroom facilities at various locations along the lakeshore for campers and day users alike.

The recreation facilities are maintained and operated by the Don Pedro Recreation Agency, an entity of the reservoir owners.

Camping reservations may be made up to one year but no less than seven days in advance of the designated date of arrival. Reservations are site specific so favorite campsites may be reserved. Reservations are handled by the Don Pedro Recreation Agency and can be made through the mail, in person, at the Agency headquarters by the dam, or by phone using a Visa or Master Card, (209) 852-2396.
