  • Regulations
    • Speed limit 10 mph. within campgrounds and day-use areas.
    • Campfires are prohibited except in authorized campground fire rings.
    • Use only down and dead wood. Chainsaws are prohibited.
    • Keep pets on leash ( 6' max.) at all times.
    • Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
    • Vehicles restricted to designated roads, and parking areas.
    • Camping in desgnated campsites only.
    • Shoreline camping is prohibited.
    • Two vehicles \ Eight person maximum per site.
    • Camping is restricted to 14 days within a 30 day period.
    Boating Requirements
    • Boating laws are enforced.
    • Fishing is permitted 24 hours a day. Vehicles and boat trailers may be parked overnight at any launch ramp parking area.
    • No Camping allowed in parking lots or on shorelines.
    • Overnight occupancy of anchored vessels is limited to 14 nights in a 30-day period.
    Extreme Conditions:
    • Lake level fluctuates. New hazards appear frequently.

    • New Melones Dam was completed in 1979, and is the second largest earth and rock filled dam in the United States.
